On November 19, 2023, the 28th “Walk-Jog-Wheel-A-Thon” organized by the Spastic Children’s Association of Selangor & Federal Territory (SCAS & FT) which took place at Stadium Merdeka, Kuala Lumpur, had successfully concluded. Present were more than 2,500 participants, including 150 special needs participants.

As a financial services group with corporate social responsibility as its core, Doo Group have responded positively to this event. Our employees from the Kuala Lumpur Office have participated in various activities at the event. They presented an emotional drum performance and strided along with the other participants, spreading the power of charity with their actions.

The SCAS & FT, which was established in 1960, is a non-profit organization aiming to enhance the spastic children’s quality of life with education and rehabilitation plans. The association has continuously organized charity walk events since 1994 to increase society’s awareness towards the vulnerable. This event, which combines exercise and charity, has become an annual national charity event.

Working Together for Charity: Spread Love with a Run

Before the event officially began, Doo Group’s employees performed a passionate 24 Festive Drum performance for the audience. After months of practices and rehearsals, we were able to give a wonderful performance in perfect condition.

The drums beat with power, resounding through the sky, which not only brought strength to the participants but also ignited the enthusiastic response at the venue.

At the starting gun, participants of the 7km fun run sprinted down the route with passion towards the finishing line, spreading the power of charity while competing for a good rank. 10 minutes later, the 2km fun walk for the disabled also began. The participants, including Doo Group’s employees, have used various methods to assist the special needs to reach the finishing line. The spectators cheered on the participants, while the participants and their special needs partners formed a close bond in this process. The lively and hopeful spirit of the special needs participants towards wanting a better future touched everyone at the venue.

Spreading Love While Gathering Sweet Memories

Additionally, Doo Group also set up a donation box beside the racing route to raise funds for the association. Doo Group, as the official partner of Manchester United Football Club (MUFC) has prepared special co-branded gifts to donors. Those who have donated MYR50 received the Doo Group x MUFC Cap, while those who have donated MYR100 received dashing Jerseys. This had greatly inspired the people to donate to the association.

Throughout the activity, Doo Group successfully raised funds for vulnerable people, providing warmth and care to them. We have once again proven our mission and value of giving back to society with our actions.

After the competition, Doo Group, as the association’s gold sponsor, invited our representative, Hellen Tan, Doo Group’s Chief Operating Officer, to snap a souvenir photo to commemorate this meaningful day.

Doo Group has always actively participated in philanthropic events to develop and give back to the society. We deeply understand that gaining profit is not the only goal of a corporation; it is also important for a corporation to stride towards sustainable development by fulfilling its corporate social responsibility, focusing on the people’s welfare and social progress.

In the future, Doo Group will continue our efforts in ESG and CSR to ensure the sustainable development of the corporation and the society. Furthermore, we call upon our global employees, partners and clients to give more care and love to the vulnerable; together we will build a harmonious society!
